WEISENSEE is a partner
at eye level.
As a traditional supplier, we work as a partner to our customers. Our customers therefore define their requirements, validate developments and make specifications. Requirements are discussed during the inquiry phase and alternative materials are suggested where possible. The aim is to produce the perfect component for the customer at the best cost and properties. Special component properties make special materials necessary.
In the field of non-ferrous metals, other technically interesting materials can be used in addition to the main materials aluminum and copper. These very special, outstanding properties of these materials serve very individual requirements.
We evaluate these with our partners to create forgeable solutions and therefore already have extensive expertise in many applications through process development of the following materials in forming:
Our materials
at a glance
-
Tungsten alloys
In addition to the highest mechanical strength, tungsten alloys also have the highest melting point and the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of all metals. They are twice as heavy as steel and more than 50% heavier than lead. This is why they have become a very important material in aerospace engineering as well as in military and medical technology.
-
Niobium
Niobium is a particularly hard material with high electrical conductivity and a melting point in the region of 2750°C. In the presence of oxygen, the metal, which belongs to the family of refractory metals, oxidizes from a certain temperature and is very resistant to corrosion due to the oxide layer that forms in air. Niobium is therefore a very valuable material that is used primarily in reactor and nuclear technology, but also increasingly in the aerospace industry.
-
Zirconium
The refractory alloy metal zirconium is relatively soft, making it easy to forge and highly ductile. A high melting point of 1875°C and good corrosion resistance, which results from the self-forming oxide layer, are among the main properties of the material. In addition to medical technology and tank construction, zirconium is also used in pipeline construction.
-
Molybdenum
Due to its mechanical and chemical properties, molybdenum is an excellent material for the most demanding requirements. The high melting point of 2620°C, combined with very low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity, makes it suitable for use in various applications. These include power electronics and the aerospace industry.
Thanks to our decades of experience and our existing equipment, we can process the materials listed either in their pure form or in their respective alloys individually and specifically according to your wishes. Every technically interesting material represents a challenge for us, which we are happy to take on on request. Please get in touch with us. We are sure to find a technical solution for your application or material.
